Summary: Alex is obsessive about keeping his files in order, but there's one he's willing to let slide.

Two office moves and the file was still in Milos’s drawer, not in the cabinet. Alex knew he should be pissed, but couldn’t summon the energy. It was growing increasingly battered, but still it remained. Milos didn’t know he knew. The arrangement suited them both.

The photos, paperclipped to the front page, were pristine.

Alex had no concept of missing loved ones—unsurprisingly—and the file should be returned, but sometimes the elf’s fingers traced the drawer front and a bereft look flitted over his young features.

Milos was still heartbroken.

What did Alex know, anyway?

He left it there.
